One year when I was serving in the primary presidency, we hosted a teacher training meeting on an evening in December. Each of the presidency members brought a batch of cookies for refreshment. Barbara Higinbotham brought these super fun Christmasy cookies that I thought were so good. So, I asked for her recipe and she was kind enough to share. We made these this year and handed them out at all the houses we caroled at.
CANDIED CHERRY COOKIES
- 1 C butter
- 1/2 C sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 C flour
- green and red candied cherries (available seasonally in the baking section–the grocery stores often sell out closer to Christmas which is what happened to me so I had to candy mine own maraschino cherries).
- Mix the top four ingredients.
- Roll into small balls on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Top each one with half of a candied cherry and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
