Frozen Hot Chocolate

My first trip to my beloved New York City was when I was about 15.  I went on a girls trip with my Mom, my sister, my sister’s friend Brooke, my Mom’s friend Evelyn and her daughter Nicki.  There are a few various things I remember from the trip, but one memory that stands out was when we all went to Serendipity 3 for Frozen Hot Chocolate.  They are huge and delicious, and it was an experience I will never forget.

Flash forward 10 years to when Derek was in law school.  I befriended all the wives of his buddies at school.  We called ourselves the law wives and hung out lots to pass the time that our husbands were always busy studying.  Over the three years we somehow adopted a few drug rep wives into the club.  Ilene was one such friend.  Being a drug rep’s wife meant that her husband was frequently traveling which made her house the perfect location for frequent girls nights.  We would usually gather there, watch Gilmore Girls, and Ilene would always make up some delectable treats to share with us.  One evening she made us all Frozen Hot Chocolate and my tastebuds were magically brought back to that wonderful night at Serendipity 3 years before.  Here’s Ilene’s recipe.   It makes about 3 C, and it’s really rich so “technically” you don’t need too much.  I made it tonight for my kids as an FHE treat and Liv asked if we could have this every FHE for the rest of summer. I hear ya Liv!
